In the third decade of the effort at improvement

with Hoxhë Bekir Halimi

Summary

An excerpt from the lecture “Renewal: in the third decade of the effort at improvement”.

In this Prishtina Talks presentation, Hoxha Bekir Halimi — an active participant in the Islamic movement in the Albanian lands for more than 35 years — reflects on three decades of effort at improvement and renewal.

Starting from the conviction that faith is a trust held by everyone and not by the imams alone (a criticism of the “supporter's” understanding of religion), Hoxha Halimi speaks about the internal mistakes that have weakened dawah: personal and communal gain, ideological narrowing, the loss of vitality, and the division between congregations. He ties these to a diagnosis: the real enemy is not another Muslim congregation, but materialism, consumerism, secularism and neo-liberalism. He closes with a clear criticism of the “one-man-show” model the system prefers, set against the Islamic insistence on the congregation.

Some of the points covered: 📌 A criticism of the “supporter's” understanding of faith — religion as a trust held by all 📌 Islam as the fastest-expanding religion today 📌 Ideological narrowing, and the people dawah lost because of it 📌 The division between congregations, and who profits from it 📌 The real enemy: materialism, consumerism, secularism 📌 The Islamic insistence on the congregation, against the “one-man-show” 📌 Muslims as defenders of the Albanian nation
