Episode 57

“My Cause” — Necmettin Erbakan

with Emir Ukallo

Summary

In this episode of Prishtina Talks, Emir Ukallo — the book's translator and the founder of the Fleta publishing house — presents “Kauza ime” (Davam) by the Turkish politician and thinker Necmettin Erbakan. The evening comes in three parts: an opening poem (“The civilisation of the rose”), a reading of several chapters, and the discussion.

Ukallo dwells on Erbakan's character — his fight against wrongdoing, and the priority he gave to serving his people over scientific fame — on purity of intention, on reading science through Islamic concepts (barakah against “development”), on the cause of Islam and the unity of Muslims, on the global powers, and on the question of Cyprus and Erbakan's part in it.

Some of the points covered: 📌 Who Necmettin Erbakan was, and why he refused to pursue a Nobel Prize 📌 Purity of intention (niyyah) as the axis of his commitment 📌 Barakah against “economic development”: science through Islamic concepts 📌 “Three that are halal are greater than five that are haram” 📌 The cause of Islam and the unity of Muslims beyond divisions 📌 The question of Cyprus and Erbakan's political foresight
